This Fall I joined the board for The Green Lantern Press - a Logan Square based organization that produces books and non profit exhibitions. Together with founder and director, Caroline Picard, we are organizing the first fundraiser tomorrow - December 12th. It would be great to see some of you there!
The Green Lantern Press Fundraiser
December 12th 6pm-12am
at Sector 2337, 2337 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago IL
About the event:
We'll have DJ entertainment by Ethan White, a live performance by Tim Kinsella, a screening organized by Christy LeMaster, raffle prizes from Lillstreet, Fleur, Jam, Rebuilding Exchange, JAM, Cellar Door Provisions and more, including some of my jewelry!
Preorder your tickets here - If you can't make it to the party - there are some awesome long distance options - my favorite are these limited edition Mark Booth pint glasses for $20.
We're hosting a live art auction tomorrow night, but you can start bidding early and buy tickets for the event here. Up for auction are tons of wonderful pieces by Mark Booth, Joseph Grigley, Deb Sokolow, Adam Grossi, Robert Burnier, Daviel Shy, yours truly, and many more! I donated my framed drawing "Messier 1 / Crab Nebula" for all the space lovers. You can find it here.
About the organization:
The Green Lantern Press' main objective is to leverage its 501c3 status to help support the production of new work and artistic experimentation. This model is possible because our host site, Sector 2337 (the for-profit bar and bookstore) donates its physical location and staff for Green Lantern Press programming. As such The Green Lantern Press has very little overhead. Thus far, The Green Lantern Press has dedicated over 60% of its annual budget to the commissioning of new art works. That money goes directly to artists and authors via honorariums, travel fees, and or material costs. Any and all works produced with those funds remain the property of the artists and proceeds of sold artworks during Green Lantern Press exhibitions go directly to the participating artists. With your help, this fundraiser will help us continue this artist-centric model.
